If work is turned in past the original due date, it cannot be given full credit; the maximum score available on late work will decrease with each day the assignment is missing:
- 1 day missing = 90% maximum score available, 2 days missing = 80%, 3 days missing = 70%
Work that is 4+ days late can’t receive a passing grade, but it can be turned in to cancel out a “zero” in the gradebook.
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to check Google Classroom and/or the homework page for the homework that you missed. If you need more instruction, please check in with me. If you know you will be absent for an extended period of time, please see me before you leave and I can give you work before you leave.
For any large writing assignments or tests, I will allow you to rewrite or retake it in an attempt at a better grade. If you show improvement and progress in your learning, your grade will reflect that progress.
I will not frequently assign independent assignments as homework. If an assignment is unfinished during class it becomes homework. It will be your responsibility to read a book for 30 minutes each night.
Our classroom will be a safe, welcoming, and engaging place for all students to learn and grow. I will make use of the Parent Communication Form if respectful behavior is not being practiced.
Academic dishonesty, cheating, and plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form. Any submitted work that exhibits academic dishonesty, or any work that is not entirely your own, will result in an automatic failing grade, and will not be eligible for resubmission.
Leaving the Classroom:
If you need to leave the classroom to use the restroom, get water, or get something from your locker, please make sure you ask first. Students will not leave the classroom, for any reason outside of emergencies, in the first 10 minutes or last 10 minutes of class.
We will follow the OLL grading scale.
In general, I will try to provide rubrics for assignments. These rubrics are to help guide you as you complete your assignment and to help you understand how I grade assignments and assessments.
