Overview of Before/After School Care
Kids Club | Extended Care | |
Overview of Program | Kids Club is an optional after school program only (it is not open before school) which is an extension of the Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten program. Students are guided in structured free play (e.g., building blocks, imaginative play, fine motor activities and games) and are encouraged to both play independently and interact with classmates. | Extended Care is an optional before school and after school program. The goal of Extended Care is to provide a safe environment for students who need before school and/or after school care. Students are provided with study time for homework and free time to interact with friends. |
Eligibility | Kids Club is offered to students enrolled in Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten at Our Lady of the Lake. | Extended Care is offered only to those students enrolled in Kindergarten through 8th grade at Our Lady of the Lake. |
Schedule | Kids Club is available only on days when school is in session. It is closed on all days that the school is closed and all half days. | Extended Care is available on days when school is in session, as well as most weekdays when the school is closed (e.g., teacher in-service days, breaks, and summer vacation). It is closed on most legal holidays. |
Inclement Weather Policy | If school is closed due to inclement weather, then Kids Club is also closed. School closures will be on the school's website (home page). If school remains open, but the weather forecast includes rain or wind, be advised that children will still be taken outside for outdoor play. In these conditions, all children should be sent to school (and Kids Club) with a coat, hat, and appropriate shoes. |

Lunch Policy for Early Dismissal and No School Days:
On days when school is dismissed early or when there is no school, there is no hot lunch service provided. Each child will need to provide his or her own lunch.
Snacks:
Kids Club students have an opportunity to enjoy a small snack during Kids Club hours as long as they bring this snack with them. Many parents of children in Kids Club will pack a small snack, separate from lunch, intended just for Kids Club. Extended Care students are provided a small snack at 3 pm.
