Curricular Program:

The basic curriculum at Our Lady of the Lake Parish School complies with Washington State and Archdiocesan requirements and provides for the development of the student's spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional and physical growth. The Education Office for the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle updates all Elementary School Curriculum Guidelines on a regular basis. Our Lady of the Lake School follows the curriculum outlined by the Archdiocese of Seattle and the Washington State Essential Learning Requirements (EALRs).

Our Lady of the Lake Parish School provides an excellent Academic Program which includes classes in the following subject areas: Religion, Mathematics, Reading, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Family Life, Music, Physical Education, Library Skills, Art, Computer Education and Substance Abuse Awareness. Outdoor Education is offered to students in grades 4 and 5. Our Lady of the Lake teachers incorporate a variety of age appropriate instructional strategies to meet the needs of students. Teachers work closely with parents to ensure students progress through the curricular program. The goal of our academic program is threefold:
• to prepare students for enrollment in a college prepratory high school
• to develop students who are critical thinkers
• to prepare students who love learning and constantly pursue it

A Learning Specialist is on staff to assist teachers and parents/guardians with the diagnosis and evaluation of students who have learning needs. The Learning Specialist coordinates the reading program for grades K-4. This program assess student progress towards benchmarks each trimester. Student performance is charted and shared with parents and teachers to determine his/her skill development.

Our Lady of the Lake Parish School exists to teach the message of Jesus Christ to its students. Therefore, the teaching of the Catholic religion is of primary importance in the school curriculum. Christian attitudes and actions are integrated throughout the day. Parents, rather than the school, exercise the greatest influence regarding attitudes toward instilling the Catholic faith in their children.

Enrichment activities offered at Our Lady of the Lake Parish School are:
Student Ministry, Science Fair, Student Government, Student Crossing Guards, Dramatic Arts, Speech Program, Math Counts (grades 6-8), The Art Docent Program (includes classroom art activities (K-8) and Group Band Lessons coordinated through Bishop Blanchet High School (grades 5-8), Junior Olympics, A Families Program, CYO sports, and an after school Spanish program.
