Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten

The preschool and pre-kindergarten programs have been specifically designed to meet the developmental needs of the early learner. Three, four and five year olds acquire a strong foundation in the skills and knowledge needed for school success. The preschool and pre-k classrooms are dynamic learning environments where children are encouraged to explore and learn through hands on experience. Seasonal and thematic units are used to engage a child's natural curiosity creating a fun environment where children want to learn.

Preschool is available for children who are 3 by August 31st. Pre-K is available for children who are 4 by August 31st.

ENVIRONMENT

Social and emotional development is often regarded as the gateway to all other learning. Because of that, social readiness skills are some of the most important work in preschool and pre-kindergarten. The culture of the program is friendly and respectful, guiding children to develop skills to cooperate, negotiate, lead and follow, be a friend and express their feelings in a socially acceptable manner.

PROGRAM

Based on Our Lady of the Lake Parish School goals and mission statement and in alignment with the Washington State Early Learning and Development Benchmarks, the preschool and pre-k programs encompass:

SCHOOL COMMUNITY

In addition to the preschool or pre-k classrooms, students have access to outside play areas, the gymnasium, library and music room. Specialists assist the classroom teachers with instruction in music, library and PE. The student teacher ratio is 8:1 in preschool and 10:1 in pre-k. These youngest members participate in the life of the school and their presence adds to our campus community.
