Dear OLL families,

In last week’s letter, I shared with you some staffing changes in the intermediate grades.  Today, I would like to share with you some changes to our middle school for next year. Erica Pierson has been hired to teacher Language Arts and 6th grade homeroom. Mrs. Pierson comes to OLL with 11 years teaching experience in two Catholic grade schools.   Mr. Villa will continue to teach math but move to 7th grade.  Dr. Kathryn Vaughn will continue teaching science and move to 8th grade for next year. Mrs. Jez will be our librarian and tech support, positions she has held for some time.

As the school year progresses, we continue to plan for next year.  With the
departure of Mrs. McMurray, we will need to hire a music /drama teacher for the students.  We continue to research ways of offering an international language class during the school day.  The school commission is working on drafts of the Strategic Plan and the parent leadership structures for next year.  The teachers and I will be reviewing the results of this spring’s ITBS scores so as to use them to make changes to curriculum, instruction and schedule.

OLL will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation the week of May 19 with a special luncheon on Wednesday, May 21.  Please look for an email from the Room Parents about this week and ways we are celebrating our teachers.

I look forward to seeing all OLL moms this Friday at 1:00 in the church.  A BIG thanks to all our moms for everything they do for their children and for the school.

God bless you all!

Vince McGovern

Principal
