“OLL's challenging and hands-on science program more than prepared my daughter for the rigor of high school science.”

Teacher's Comments

Thank you for visiting the Preschool web page.

Thank you so much everyone for your wonderful contributions to out Thanksgiving feast.  The children did such a great job serving themselves.  I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving and that those that travelled are back safe and sound.

Advent is here and we will be learning about the birth of Jesus and what Christmas is all about. We will talk about our Advent Wreath and how Advent is a time of waiting for Jesus to be born.

The Advent wreath represents God's love. The evergreen and the circle (wreath) symbolize that God is Eternal and always with us.  The candle represents Jesus, the Light of the World - the one Light that dispels darkness.
The four advent candles are lit for each of the for Advent Sundays. The three purple candles reflect the sorrow we feel for not loving Jesus enough. The rose candle is lit on the 3rd Sunday (Gaudete Sunday) in joyful anticipation of Christmas.

The children will also be learning about the preparations for Christmas.  "Children love to anticipate" ; the star that led the Magi to the newborn king, the empty manger, the nativity scene and blessing of the tree.   Your letters that I requested reinforce the wonder of the waiting time.  The children will be sharing these in the classroom with their friends.

By participating in various time honored traditions the children can engage more fruitfully in the seasons of advent and Christmas.  We will be singing Away in a Manger, Jingle Bells, Silent Night and some other fun holiday songs.

We will be celebrating the birth of Jesus with our freinds from Pre K on December 16th.
Be sure to dress your child in weather appropriate clothing for recess.  We will continue to go outside.  Also a quick reminder rain boots are great but hard to wear in the classroom and during PE or Music and Movement.  Please bring a change of shoes for these occasions.
